Ageing Well & The Big-Hearted Educator’s Guide To Personal Evolution | Episode 139

Is your body trying to tell you something?

What if the fatigue, brain fog, or cravings you’ve been feeling aren’t just “part of getting older” but messages from your body asking for support?

I am so excited to share this heartfelt conversation with you. Dr Michelle Woolhouse brings such warmth and wisdom to the often-overlooked aspects of wellbeing, and I know you’ll walk away with valuable insights.

At the start of 2024, terms like “Prediabetic,” “Insulin Resistant,” and “Perimenopausal” weren’t on my radar, but they quickly became part of my reality. My Vively CGM experiment revealed elevated blood glucose levels, placing me in the prediabetic range. I thought I was doing everything right, fasting, running, strength training, but I was pushing too hard, not resting enough, and unintentionally stressing my body.

With the guidance of Dr. Michelle Woolhouse, I reversed my prediabetes and learned to eat in a way that truly satisfies me without constantly chasing my next sugar fix.

Elevated insulin levels can also signal lowering estrogen, leading me to explore my hormones. After further testing and consultation with Michelle, I started bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, and I feel better than I have in 18 months.

2024 taught me a universal truth: Rest isn’t a luxury—it’s the foundation of wellbeing. Constantly pushing ourselves and clinging to old habits is a recipe for exhaustion and imbalance. By listening to my body and seeking expert support, I feel like myself again, energised, clear-headed, and excited about life.

Why This Conversation Matters

As educators, we give so much to our students and communities, often putting ourselves last. But taking care of our own health isn’t selfish, it’s necessary. Michelle and I explore what it means to age well, embrace change, and prioritise our wellbeing in a world that often demands we keep pushing forward.

As we move forward, I encourage you to listen to your body. If something feels off, don’t ignore it. Seek help, ask questions, and approach your health with curiosity, not judgment.

We don’t have to settle for poor energy and lingering fatigue—better health and vitality are within reach with deliberate action and the right support.

I hope you enjoy my conversation with Dr Michelle Woolhouse.
