Ep 62: Living Well Despite Struggle

Is it possible to feel good and function well, despite the struggles of life?

Struggling is a part of life, but it shouldn’t have the power to stop you from living well. In this heartfelt episode of the School of Wellbeing podcast, Meg speaks with the associate professor at the University of Melbourne’s Graduate School of Education, Dr Peggy Kern. The two discuss how our understanding of wellbeing has evolved and the importance of purposeful action.

Peggy’s research focuses on understanding, measuring, and supporting wellbeing across the lifespan. She works with schools and workplaces to examine strategies for supporting wellbeing, and bridging gaps between research and practice. Learn why actions affect individuals differently, how to apply this knowledge and practical ways to feel, function and relate better despite the struggle of everyday life.

In this conversation we discuss

▫️ How our understanding of wellbeing has evolved.

▫️ The importance of purposeful action.

▫️ Practical ways to live well, despite struggle.

▫️ And so much more…

You can quote us on that…

“Some people really value things like how they feel emotionally. Others really care about accomplishing things in life. Others really care about having good relationships. And so different domains are actually going to matter to us.”

Dr Peggy Kern

“If we can find the things that resonate with us, that’s how we develop those positive habits.”

Dr Peggy Kern

“The reality is we’re living in complex times. There’s a lot of challenges individually, but there’s a lot of global challenges, and all of these have an impact on us.”
