Have you noticed that taking care of your wellbeing is hard work?

Over the years, it has become clear that the actions required to help us to feel, function and relate better require effort.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉 It is hard to get to bed when we want to watch one more episode of our favourite show.

👉 It's hard to cook a nutritious meal when we have had a big day.

👉 It's hard to move our body when we don't feel like it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
AND…the alternative… is not taking care of your wellbeing and guess what that is hard work too!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉 It is hard to make good choices when we are exhausted.

👉 It is hard to give to others when we have nothing left to give.

👉 It is hard to sleep when our minds are racing.

Which hard will you choose today?

I am cheering you on!

💭 Do you ever walk into a room worried that you will have no one to talk to?

This was how I was feeling as I walked into the Women In Leadership dinner hosted by the Victorian Catholic Secondary Schools Deputy Principals Association.

I was invited to attend this highly anticipated event as a special guest and I am so glad that I have learned the skill of choosing courage over comfort because it was a fabulous night.

👉 My courage mantra when I am feeling like this is "You'll be glad you did it"

The Sofitel Grand Ballroom was absolutely buzzing and filled with the familiar faces of former colleagues, school leaders that I am currently working with, and Claire Allemand my incredible supervisor from my final teaching placement - almost 20 years ago!

The Brilliant Shelley Ware was the keynote speaker for the evening and generously shared her lived experience and her valuable insights so we can all play our part in creating meaningful change for ourselves and the next generation.

🎧 An unexpected delight of the evening was connecting with a number of big-hearted school leaders that regularly listen to The School of Wellbeing podcast and hearing how the conversations are having a positive impact on their personal and professional lives.

📣 Thank you to the VCSSDPA committee and all involved for making this such a memorable event and I look forward to seeing a few of you in Nagambie our professional learning session - Thrive By Design.

It really goes to show that magic awaits when we have the ability to step (mentally and physically) into the unknown and choose courage over comfort.

💭 I would love to hear from you, what do you say to yourself when you need a little courage boost?
